UPS announces rate hikes for 2006

ATLANTA – UPS Inc., the world’s largest shipping carrier, said Friday it will increase rates on commercial ground services by 3.9 percent and on air and international services by 5.5 percent in 2006.The Atlanta-based company also said it will modify the calculation for its air fuel surcharge, which it said will benefit customers as fuel prices moderate.UPS said it will keep the limit on its surcharge to a maximum of 12.5 percent.
