Utah man charged with homicide after woman hit at party dies
SALT LAKE CITY — Prosecutors have filed a homicide charge against a man accused of punching a woman at a New Year’s Eve party, causing a head injury that killed her days later.
Alcario Archuleta-Valdez appeared in Bountiful court Wednesday on a felony criminal homicide by assault charge.
Police say the 34-year-old Clearfield woman stood up and walked around immediately after the punch, but two days later complained of a bad headache and was taken to hospital where she died of head trauma.
The Ogden Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1zp8Si8) that prosecutors filed the charges last week because they had to wait for autopsy results.
An attorney for the 32-year-old defendant did not immediately return a messages seeing comment on the charges Friday.
