The Vail Arts Festival, an annual summer event, takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday on East Lionshead Circle in Vail, adjacent to the Lionshead Parking Structure. The event opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. daily. The festival is located along a public street, so there is no admission fee.

Artists from throughout the country will be selling their work in various categories such as painting, photography, mixed media, jewelry, metal works, wood, ceramics, sculpture, fiber, drawing and graphics and prints. The Creative Kingdom, a free children’s arts and crafts tent, will be open each day offering children an opportunity to create their own works of art.

In addition, there is free street entertainment all weekend in Lionshead Mall. The festival takes place each summer in Vail and artists are chosen to be invited through a jury process early in the year.

“We accept applications beginning in November of the previous year and an independent panel of jurists review the show in early March,” said Laurie Asmussen of Eagle Valley Events, Inc., the company who produces the festival. “We are excited about the quality of artists who come to Vail each August and welcome them again this year. Each year we strive to create an environment where artists can display their incredible talents to our residents and guests. This is really a great way for visitors to the Festival to find a one-of-a-kind item for their home or a gift for a loved one-in a comfortable outdoor setting. For more information about the Vail Arts Festival please call 328-1182.
