Vail Athletic Club hosts April cycling prep classes
Vail CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado – Cycling season is fast approaching and the Vail Athletic Club (VAC) has created a fitness series for the month of April that focuses on preparing riders for a strong summer. The program uses the VAC’s fleet of Keiser M3 bikes. These machines offer a smooth ride, the ability to adjust per body type, no instruction needed, the ability to monitor progress in real time and an effective workout, which means less time invested with greater results. The VAC’s Cycling Prep Month begins Monday with a lactate threshold field test to pinpoint personalized training zones and continues throughout the month with varied class options. The test will provide a baseline and help identify goals for each participant A heart rate monitor that records averages is required.
Cycling prep month features a Monday series taught by indoor cycling instructor Jennifer Sage, which includes a variety of sessions designed to build endurance and strength and help cyclists reach specific goals.
The series continues with the “Triple Bypass” on April 11. This 90-minute rendition of the famous Colorado cycling event features three long climbs, each with a different personality. The session will teach form, mental focus and commitment to a purpose.
On April 18, the “Roller Coaster Ride” session simulates a mountain bike ride, beginning with a long approach and culminating with fast and fun twists, turns, ups and downs.
The High Intensity Interval Training (HITT) session on April 25 is focused on interval training. Not all intervals are created equal; this session begins with a discussion of three types of intervals, how to execute them, the benefits of each, followed by an interval training ride.
The Monday series is $20 per session for VAC members and $35 per session for guests. The VAC also is offering a special April Membership and Monday Series for $200 per person, which includes full club membership during the month of April as well as the Monday series.
In addition to the Monday series the VAC is offering cycle conditioning classes Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays throughout April. These classes are included with membership and times vary.
