Vail Board of REALTORS grant request goes to local charities

The Colorado Association of REALTORS, CAR, CARHOF Board of Trustees has approved the Vail Board of REALTORS 2005 grant request for a total of $31,875. All funds will go toward assisting local charities. The Colorado Association of REALTORS Housing Opportunity Foundation, CARHOF, is a nonprofit, 501(c)3, charitable foundation created for the purpose of promoting safe, decent and affordable housing for all. CARHOF collects interest on escrow accounts and donates the money to nonprofit and public agencies that help low- to moderate-income families with their housing needs.The following amounts will be contributed through CARHOF by the Vail Board of REALTORS and will support these local Eagle County charitable organizations: $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity truck. $15,000 to The Resource Center of Eagle County. $ 3,425 to Eagle County Downpayment Assistance Program. $ 3,450 to Vail Valley Salvation Army.Amy Dorsey, Managing Broker of the Beaver Creek Hyatt office for Slifer Smith & Frampton, is one of the Trustees for the states CARHOF nonprofit organization. Colorado is on of the few states in the country that has a CARHOF foundation which really puts us on the leading edge of this opportunity to contribute, she said. This is one of the best things a REALTOR can do to raise money for this cause. It is so easy to do and all interest earned from earnest money deposits held in a CARHOF account go toward housing related nonprofit organizations.
