Vail bus accident investigation continues

EAGLE COUNTY — Representatives from Denver Health Medical Center couldn’t comment Monday on the condition of a 6-year-old boy who was seriously injured in Vail over the weekend.

The boy was transferred to Denver Health Saturday after being hit by a town of Vail bus earlier that day; hospital representatives said they were hoping to connect with the boy’s family to issue a statement about his condition in the coming days.

A joint investigation by the Colorado State Patrol and the Vail Police Department continued Monday, with officers conducting witness interviews and attempting to track down surveillance footage of the incident, which occurred at 6:55 p.m. Saturday in front of Solaris Plaza in Vail Village. The bus, driven by a 66-year old town of Vail employee, was headed westbound on Meadow Drive. The boy was rushed to Vail Valley Medical Center and later transferred to Denver Health.
