Vail buys more land for New Dawn project

Daily Staff Report

VAIL ” A Vail Resorts subsidiary has acquired the Vail Amoco service station land near the corner of Forest Road and South Frontage Road for approximately $3.3 million.

The acre will be added to the 6 acres that are part of an extensive redevelopment project that stretches from Vail Village to Lionshead. The land includes the Vail Vehicle Maintenance Shop and the recently acquired Vail Professional Building.

Plans for the land include the Ritz-Carlton Residents and a chairlift to Vail Mountain.

“While a purchase of a gas station is not by itself an earth-shattering event,” Vail Resorts chief executive Adam Aron said, “the fact that it facilitates potentially lucrative development is a very positive step forward.”
