Vail, CDOT, Vail Resorts partner on Frontage Road

VAIL, Colorado – A lease agreement for use of the Frontage Roads for permit parking and overflow parking by the town of Vail has been approved by the Colorado Department of Transportation for this ski season. The agreement is good through May 1 and will include a payment of $20,000 to CDOT, which will be funded by Vail Resorts.

The agreement was finalized following passage of a resolution by the Vail Town Council at its Dec. 21 meeting. A similar agreement was approved for the 2009-10 season.

The lease is seen as a temporary solution to expand Vail’s parking inventory while a plan for additional permanent parking is finalized. The long-term parking plan is to be finalized by Aug. 31 and will address structured parking options as well as the possibility of the town taking over ownership of the South Frontage Road from the Golf Course bridge to the West Vail roundabout.
