Vail celebrates Record Store Day

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado –It’s the time of year in Colorado’s Vail Valley to celebrate an event that salutes independent music stores, including the mom-and-pop stores surviving in these tough economic times. The third annual Record Store Day will be celebrated Saturday at Eagle Valley Music and Comics in the West Vail Mall.

There will be many CD samplers, vinyl pieces, stickers, turntable mats, and much more available with purchase. In addition, items available for purchase include limited edition picture discs, 7-inch and 10-inch records, special LP pressings, and many other exclusive items only available to small stores. A Rolling Stones 7-inch with unreleased tracks from the “Exile On Main Street” sessions and a Bruce Springsteen 10-inch are a couple of the instant collectibles available for purchase.

With Eagle Valley Music in its 27th year, Eagle Valley Music and Comics owner Tom Robbins says he has seen the vinyl LP nearly die, and then come full circle as a once again popular format. “

“I never would’ve thought the LP would come back to this extent, but it’s back, and sounding better than ever,” Robbins says. “We still sell lots of CDs, but I’ve had so many customers literally switch over to vinyl completely.”

Eagle Valley Music and Comics is open daily from 10 a.m. until midnight. For more information, call 970-476-1713.
