Vail Chamber bids a fond farewell to Kaye Ferry
Executive Director Kaye Ferry has resigned from the Vail Chamber & Business Association. Ferry has been instrumental in the success of the Vail Chamber and will be greatly missed by the business community for her contributions. As a volunteer, Ferry founded the Vail Village Merchants Association in 1990, which later merged with the LionsHead Merchants Association and the Vail Community Chamber to create the Vail Chamber & Business Association in 1999. After she sold her business, the Daily Grind, in 2004, Kaye was asked to take over the executive director position of the chamber as a part-time job. Kaye has been instrumental in developing important community-based programs such as the nationally recognized Premier Impressions Excellence in Customer Service project, Turn it Up! program, Spring Back to Vail, the Chili Cook-Off and the BBQ Bonanza. Ferry and the chamber have also been sponsors of the Vail Film Festival and the Vail Gift Card, as well as representing Vail at the Colorado Snow Sports Expo for the past four years. She has facilitated the development of the Vail Guide, the towns only Vail-specific publication and the Vail Cooks…for You! cookbook. Ferry has served on the board of directors for the Colorado Competitive Council and the Vail Film Festival, as chairwoman of the Vail Local Licensing authority and also has been a Vail Resorts ski instructor and Vail Daily columnist. She has spearheaded significant changes in the structure of the town of Vails Sign Code, Design Review Board codes and the parking task force.Ferrys influence has been also been felt at the chambers monthly community meetings, which have sponsored speakers ranging from organization heads to state senators, a Colorado Department of Transportation-sponsored meeting about Interstate 70 construction, the International Festival, Family Fest, the Vail Loves You coupon book, free Wednesday parking, the Vail business directory, Circus Chimera, various election debates, the Vail business directory, and at one time, running the summer street entertainers program. Ferrys most recent accomplishment is a deal that will bring the Disney Institutes Disney Keys to Excellence program to Vail in order to help locals develop better business and customer-service strategies. Look for the Disney program in late September. All these accomplishments make Kaye Ferry a hard act to replace. The Vail Chamber & Business Association would like to take this opportunity to wish her the best of luck in the future and to let her know that she will be missed. Lourdes Ferzacca is president of the Vail Chamber & Business Association board of directors.
