Vail Chamber column: Kicking off summer in Vail with a slew of events
The Vail Chamber & Business Association hosted its first summer update meeting on June 1 at The Sebastian Vail. It was great to see so many Vail business owners and lodging and resort employees attend to get information about what is happening in Vail this summer.
Thank you the town of Vail, Vail Local Marketing District, Vail Mountain Marketing, Eagle Air Alliance and GoPro Mountain Games for presenting and keeping our business community informed about all that is important to our guests and employees.
Summer is here: Vail has started to welcome all of the visitors from around the globe to enjoy their summer vacations in our beautiful mountain town. We kicked it off right with the GoPro Mountain Games and great events ahead, such as the Vail Craft Beer Classic this upcoming weekend. At this brand new Vail event, you will enjoy three days of food and beer pairings, educational seminars and a free concert on Saturday with Head for the Hills and Gipsy Moon. The perfect outing for all dads is during Father’s Day weekend, Friday through Sunday, in Vail Village.
A Fun filled summer
The Vail Farmers Market & Art Show is also right around the corner, starting Father’s day weekend on Sunday and continuing every Sunday through Oct. 1. Colorado’s finest are showcased; visit http://www.vailfarmers market.com to see all of the amazing vendors this year.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
But that is not all in Vail this weekend: The 45th annual Vail King of the Mountain Volleyball Tournament is hosted Friday and Saturday. It’s one of the top 10 grassroots beach doubles volleyball tournaments in the U.S.A. Come watch men and women compete in this volleyball extravaganza at Ford Park.
Both Gondolas are now running daily for the summer season. Epic Discovery at the top of the Eagle Bahn gondola is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year, Epic Discovery offers the full pass to enjoy all of the rides and activities, as well as activity-specific tickets if you want to experience only one adventure. Your Epic Pass for the 2017-18 season will get you rides on both gondolas. Those who purchased the 2016-17 merchant pass will have access this summer, as well. New this year for Epic Discovery is that kids ride free when accompanied by a paying adult. How cool is that?
I’ve been blessed to have lived in our valley for 10 years and have seen summer grow in popularity every year, bringing as much business as the busy winter months. All of the events and activities that have been added throughout the years make Vail an amazing summer destination for people from all across the country and world. I look forward to a yet again busy and exciting summer in Vail.
