Vail: Chamonix meeting Thursday

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado ” The town of Vail is inviting West Vail residents to a meeting about a proposed temporary parking lot near the old Wendy’s site.

The meeting will take place at the “Chamonix” site from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday. Attendees should park at the Wendy’s lot.

The proposal seeks to increase the supply of outlying parking for the upcoming winter season. About 180 spaces could be accommodated on the property, where affordable housing and fire station are now planned.

The town’s planning commission will review the proposal Aug. 25 at a meeting that begins at 1 p.m.

Last week, the Town Council chose a plan to build 58 affordable homes on the town-owned land.

The temporary parking lot would be constructed for the upcoming ski season, and perhaps future ski seasons. The proposed surface lot would be made of gravel. It would be available for free daytime parking seven days a week to provide additional employee parking options.
