Vail child-seat check in Vail Tuesday
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado – Free monthly child passenger seat safety check-ups are now available in Vail from the Vail Fire Department, the Vail Valley Medical Center and Child Passenger Safety Team Colorado.
On Tuesday and continuing on the third Tuesday of each month, trained technicians will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Vail Fire Station 2, 42 W. Meadow Dr., to conduct the inspections and provide installation instruction. Appointments are required by calling J.R. Rulapaugh at 970-477-3416.
During a safety check, technicians will provide information on the proper way to install a child passenger seat, how to best position the child, the appropriate size seat for the child, plus they’ll check for any recalls associated with the seat.
Studies have shown that at least 80 percent of child passenger seats in Colorado are installed incorrectly. Rulapaugh and the other inspectors have been certified by Child Passenger Safety Team Colorado and Safekids.org and adhere to standards of the National Highway Transportation Safety Board after rigorous training and testing.
With the new location in Vail, there are now three child seat check-up locations throughout Eagle County, including Edwards and Eagle.
