Vail Climbing team’s summer begins
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL – The Vail Athletic Club climbing team is hosting an open house on Saturday for kids and their families who want to know more about the summer season.
The climbing team offers weekly indoor and outdoor climbing for kids, ages seven to 18. The indoor sessions are held at the Vail Athletic Club, on Vail’s only indoor climbing wall, and the outdoor sessions are held in cooperation with Adventure Travel Guides International, Inc. in the White River National Forest.
“The goal of the VAC climbing team is to introduce and refine proper climbing technique to kids, maintaining a strong emphasis on all aspects of climbing safety, and promoting a positive team environment,” says head coach Larry Moore states. “These mainstays of the VAC climbing team enable students to build confidence, improve self-esteem, and become stronger climbers in a fun, supportive atmosphere.”
The climbing team is split into multiple teams based on age and ability. The development team is designed for beginners and younger children just learning the sport while the A team is for the most advanced climbing competitors.
The open houses take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Vail Athletic Club. For more information, call the Vail Athletic Club at 970-476-7960.
