Vail Comedy Show is flying in Los Angeles-based comedian Katherine Blanford for a show at El Sabor on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Blanford has appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” twice, been on NETFLIX radio, has had a No. 1 comedy album and hails from Atlanta, Georgia.
Have you ever performed in the Vail Valley?
No, I’ve just seen TikToks of people in the lodges looking very fancy in their ski outfits that never touched snow.
Do you have a favorite Colorado comedy memory?
I’ve hiked, skied, rode horseback and sat in Durango hot springs. But there is no Colorado experience that makes you feel closer to Mother Earth than smelling that fresh cow aroma gushing down from Greeley to the foothills in Fort Collins.

You moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles. What do you miss about Atlanta?
The green. I miss huge stretches of grass and green trees and sidewalks you don’t have to hopscotch on so you don’t step on someone.
What was your favorite part about being on “The Tonight Show?”
The snacks and the fame. One person stood outside 30 Rock and waited for my autograph. He then thrust a picture of Charlize Theron in one of those movies where she looks like she’s given up and said I’m a very talented actress. Then we split the rest of my Milk Duds together.
Any major events coming up?
I’m gonna be a grandma! I’m the first woman ever to become a grandma without ever bearing children yet. Yes, the title is self-inflicted.
You live in Los Angeles but tour nationally. How does Colorado compare to other markets?
Every city is different. It seems like if you’ve got two siblings that don’t talk — one probably lives in Denver and one lives in Loveland.
I performed all over the state but no matter what city you’re in, one thing for sure is that you’re going to get a taste of nature. That’s nice when I spend most of my days on planes and Ubers and hotels. I like to touch earth.
How would you describe your comedy?
Personal and observational. Silly and smart. You’ll see. You’ll all see! (Me staring at my drama teacher who said I wasn’t cut out to play Gretel in “Sound of Music” because I refused to memorize three lines).
What is next for Katherine Blanford?
Mars!
