VAIL — Major milestones from 2015 and key focus areas for the future will headline Vail's annual community meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Donovan Pavilion. The gathering is hosted by the Vail Town Council and town staff.

Full-time and part-time residents, business owners, property owners, employees and others interested in the state of the community are encouraged to attend. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with informational displays on a variety of topics of community interest.

The evening's program will begin at 5:15 p.m. with an introduction and welcome by Town Manager Stan Zemler, followed by a state of the town address by Mayor Dave Chapin. A question and answer session will follow the presentations with time for additional one-on-one discussions for the remainder of the evening.

Representatives from the town's partner agencies including Vail Resorts, Colorado Department of Transportation, Eagle River Water & Sanitation District, U.S. Forest Service and Vail Recreation District will join town staff in hosting open house displays to share project updates and answer questions. Topics include: the Vail Interstate 70 underpass construction, Gore Creek restoration efforts, Vail Resorts' Epic Discovery summer programs, development of Vail's newest neighborhood on the Chamonix parcel, renovation of Booth Creek Park, new pickleball courts at Golden Peak and expansion of the Vail Valley trail system. In addition, staff from Vail Public Library will host a 3-D printer demonstration as well as a demo of their new button maker, both from the library's tech studio.

The town's notable accomplishments during the past year will be distributed in a written report at the meeting. Highlights include record sales tax and real estate transfer tax collections and the town's involvement in sponsorship of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

This is the 16th year for the annual community meeting. Parking is free and light refreshments will be served. The meeting will be recorded by Public Access TV 5 and will be replayed on Comcast Channel 5 in April. For more information, contact the town's community information office at 970-479-2115.
