Vail company gives food banks a boost
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL ” In the face of a faltering economy, a Vail, Colorado, company is making a significant contribution to those who are less fortunate.
Gerald Gallegos, founder and CEO of The Gallegos Corporation, is asking each of his 500 employees across Colorado, Montana and Idaho to contribute cash or food to local food banks. Gallegos will then match any and all donations, which will be distributed throughout the communities in late December.
The companywide food drive takes place between Dec. 1 and Dec. 17, and each office will give the donations to a local organization of their choice. The Vail office is donating to the Salvation Army Food Bank in Edwards, while the Aspen office is helping out Lift Up in Glenwood Springs.
Gallegos sits on the board of several nonprofits, including the Vail Valley Foundation, the Youth Foundation, El Pomar and the Minturn Community Fund.
He said that by working together, the company can make a significant impact through the winter months.
“Many families are really struggling right now, and if we can make a positive impact, I will be pleased,” he said. “I believe my employees will rally together and make a difference. In addition, I challenge other local contractors to make a difference, and get their employees involved.”
