Vail construction

Daily Staff Report
Vail Daily/Shane MacomberWorkers of all types work together to get Wall Street up and running.

The first phase of the Vail Village streetscape project is headed into the home stretch. Work started in April, and construction on this phase of the two-year project will be completely wrapped up by about June 20. At this point, crews are virtually finished with utility and grading work on lower Bridge Street. Work continues on preparing a street snowmelt system and a new public restroom under Vendetta’s deck on Wall Street. After working seven days a week for about two months, construction work will stop completely by noon on Friday. No construction is scheduled through the weekend, but crews will get back to work starting at 7 a.m. on Monday. Work on the project’s next phases will start again after Labor Day, and then in the spring and fall of 2005. As much as $1 billion will be spent on public and private renovation and construction over the next five years.
