Vail council considering another dog park
The Vail Town Council wants your opinion on whether Stephens Park should go to the dogs.
Vail’s Stephens Park could join Bighorn Park as a permanent pooch playground – an off-leash area for dogs on a permanent basis.
On Tuesday, the council will take its first look at an ordinance to make the change permanent. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers, 75 S. Frontage Rd., Vail.
Last February, at the urging of potential users, the Town Council started a year-long trial period, designating Stephens Park in West Vail as an off-leash area for dogs on a year-long trial basis. The trial period was activated during Council’s evaluation of the off-leash experiment at Bighorn Park in East Vail, agreeing to continue the Bighorn Park program on a permanent basis.

Bighorn Park and Stephens Park are the only authorized dog parks in Vail for off-leash exercise. All other parks, including Donovan Park, require dogs to be under control of their owner.
