Vail cuts 2010 budget again

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado -The Vail Town Council will review a revised 2010 budget Tuesday, different from the approved first reading of the budget Sept. 15. Tuesday’s review will take place during the council’s work session that begins at 1 p.m., as well as the evening meeting that begins at 6 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Vail Town Council Chambers, 75 S. Frontage Rd. The public will have a chance to speak during the evening meeting.

The proposed $51.2 million fiscal year plan has been adjusted to address concerns about the ability for town expenses to be supported by reduced revenues.

The new proposal reduces salary expense to reflect three vacant positions that will not be filled. Additional reductions were taken to various line items. The reductions are in addition to $2.9 million eliminated from the general fund operating budget in 2009. The proposed general fund operating budget for 2010 is now 5 percent less than the operating budget in 2008.

The revised budget recommendation is available for review on the town’s web site at
