Vail Dail letter: Allendar seeks re-election

The Eagle-Vail Metro District Board elections are Tuesday, May 4, and I am asking for your support in my effort to be re-elected to the board.

I began my service on the Eagle-Vail Metro District Board and have represented Eagle-Vail on the Upper Eagle River Water Authority since 2006. I have the desire and commitment to continue that service for four more years. Some Metro Board accomplishments of the last four years:

n Green Play’s Eagle-Vail Pavilion and Park conceptual master plan.

n The Urban Land Institute’s Eagle-Vail advisory report.

n The Borne 20-year engineering study of district facilities.

n The 2007 mill levy continuation that has helped put the Eagle-Vail Metro District in a better financial position.

n Construction of Phase 1 of the Eagle-Vail Trail.

n Passage of the debt service mill levy in 2009 for improvements beginning in 2010 with new pool facility construction and golf course upgrades.

n Instituting joint governance with the Property Owners Association Board.

n Completing the new Eagle-Vail flood plain study and applying for grants to fund improvements to eliminate all but a few homes from the flood plain.

n Hiring of a community manager.

n Ground-breaking on new pool.

While many challenges exist, I believe that there are exciting opportunities ahead for Eagle-Vail and that we are now well-positioned for those opportunities.

Some of the issues I would like to work on for the next four years include adequate staffing for the district, affordable office space utilizing existing district property, complete the Eagle-Vail Trail, complete planned golf course upgrades, replace tennis facilities, identify a dog park, maintenance of facilities and most importantly balance our income and expenses.

I hope you can give me support so I can continue to be allowed to use my experience, education and common sense to work for Eagle-Vail using a fiscally responsible approach.

Please remember that the quality of our amenities is a reflection of our community and can have a positive or negative effect on all of our property values. I believe we must continue the work that has taken place over the last four years and continue to maintain and upgrade Eagle-Vail.

If I may, I ask that you allow Reed Ford and Stephen Kirchner to continue to work for Eagle Vail by also voting for them for the Eagle Vail Metro District Board.
