Vail Daily column: Focus on the positives
Vail, CO Colorado
The Vail economic community is made up of many stakeholders including but not limited to property owners, business owners, and non-owner employees. Each stakeholder has a vested interest in the success of the community whether it be through real-estate values, gross sales or W-2 wages. As stakeholders of the Vail economic community let’s lead by reinforcing positives and learning from inevitable mistakes. As leaders, consider making it a daily goal to acknowledge at least one person doing something right or better yet make it a daily goal to acknowledge more rights than wrongs. A culture that fosters development through praise and recognition also dampens the fear of failure which can stunt growth. When a mistake happens, make it a point to learn from it rather than dwell on what went wrong.
As stakeholders let’s also lead by representing our community in a positive light. As leaders, consider using powerful tools such as periodicals and social networking to present the community in a complementary rather than damaging light. Focus on positives like the dynamic options Vail has to offer our guests rather than the obvious challenge with which this winter has confronted us. Post pictures of smiling faces on the front side rather than terra firma on the back side.
As Vail stakeholders, our investments, sales and wages all depend on our community’s success. Let’s all lead by reinforcing our positives and learning from our mistakes. Start your positive ways by breaking out your powder boards today in anticipation of an epic powder day on Sunday.
