Vail Daily editorial: Snow Daze sets stage for great Christmas
Vail, CO Colorado
Nice job getting Vail in the mood for Christmas with Snow Daze last weekend.
Nice assist, too, with the early snow, even if Friday night’s snowstorm closed I-70 and cut off some fans from Dwight Yoakam at Ford Park. No such problem for O.A.R. on Saturday night and Weezer on Sunday. Bonfire Dub got into the act, opening for the headliner of the weekend.
Lots of fun, lots of snow, and it appears lots of patrons for Vail’s shops, too.
It’s starting to look a lot like Christmases past. Ski stores and restaurants were bustling, and lodges filled up.
Of course, that’s just an early precursor to the main event, Christmas. There’s plenty of reason to believe this will be a good one, too.
Santa already did his job bringing lots of early snow, a bounty for sure. That’s already cheered folks at the ski resort, the merchants and most of all, the skiers and boarders already having a blast.
For locals, our job is easy this year: Just share the vibe and enjoy the moment.
That’s not terribly hard to do when you bring together the best snow, the best place to ride that snow, the event with “snow” in the name with top acts each year and generally just about the most fun you can have on snow in the best place on the planet when it snows.
Kind of hard to beat that.
