Vail Daily letter: A head-scratcher

Tell me if this makes sense. The Republicans refused a $250 check to Social Security recipients that would cost about $14 million because we can’t afford it. They also denied assistance to sick “first responders” to 9/11 that would cost about $7.4 million because we can’t afford it.

According to them, however, a tax cut for the upper 2 percent of Americans, which will cost us $70 billion, is a non-negotiable demand that the rich can’t do without.

Hmmmmm …
