Vail Daily letter: Amazing challenge

I have been bullied, beaten, immobilized and driven to uncontrollable tears in the last few weeks.

Thank you to Warren Schick, and trainers Tam and Brett Donelson for the most amazing six weeks of my life. Warren and his remarkable team at the Riverfront Fitness Club at the Westin in Avon offered 10 people a chance to get healthy by using the fitness facilities and giving dietary advice. I know this opportunity changed a few lives — or at least made us look a little closer at how we are living and what we can do to change the things we don’t like.

This health challenge went far beyond losing a few pounds. I saw the changes in myself and the participants first hand. Everyone is holding their head up a little higher and is exhibiting more confidence. Some of the people that I saw on a daily basis have become my heroes. They were pushed not only by the trainers, but by themselves.

Congratulations to Kathy Dee for winning the grand prize, but also to the other extraordinary people who participated. I think those who embraced the challenge came out the biggest winners. I know I have.

Thanks for the wild ride. And thanks for letting me stay on for a little while longer.
