Vail Daily letter: Biblical fact
May 21, 2012
I respectfully disagree with Richard Carnes in his most recent piece “Really, gay marriage again?”
Let’s take a look at biblical fact and truth. This is not an opinion piece I made up on my own where it’s my opinion vs. Mr. Carnes’ opinion. This is Biblical fact.
So here goes: The Bible says the following about homosexuality: Homosexual practices are sinful (Romans 1:18-27), and homosexual behavior has no place among Christians (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
The Bible then says the following about marriage: God created marriage (Matthew 19:4-6), and husbands and wives have distinct roles in marriage (Ephesians 5:21-33).
It is quite obvious then that homosexuality is a sin and that marriage is between a man and a woman. Pretty cut and dry to me.
According to Mr. Carnes, that makes me a BBB (Belief-Based Bigot). Oh well. If believing in biblical truth makes me a bigot, so be it. The Bible does not change. What does change is the opinion of misguided non-believers like Mr. Carnes.

So do you really think Jesus would support gay “marriage” after I copied verbatim above what is said about homosexuality and marriage straight out of the Bible? The answer is no. Jesus does love the sinner but hates the sin, and as I said before, homosexual practices are sinful.
President Obama has made this an election issue instead of focusing on more pressing needs. He is a political opportunist. He should in fact be focused on, as you mentioned, the national debt, unemployment, the wars, terrorism, Iran, etc.
FYI, after President Obama entered the White House, Hillary Clinton and some U.N. ambassadors began a push for gay rights and threatened African and Asian countries with a loss of funds if they didn’t comply. That is unreal and shows just how left wing-liberal this administration is.
Thankfully, Colorado Republicans at the state level recently voted against civil unions. Props to them.
Lastly, please stop attacking the Christian faith and biblical truth. The Bible remains constant. The Bible reveals truth (Acts 18:28).
