Vail Daily letter: Can’t be any worse than now

I have some questions and thoughts on the proposed health-care system that is now under debate.

I see many scare ads on TV against a government bureaucrat making medical decisions and a scary man holding a sheet of paper saying “health police.”

My question is why is the government bureaucrat worse than the insurance industry bureaucrat that is now making most of these decisions?

The insurance company bureaucrat has more incentive to skimp on the patient’s health care because he works for a profit-making company.

If you’re under Medicare as I am, you’ll love those “health police” because they free you from the problem and worry of going broke because of your health problems.

I have never heard any U.S. senator or U.S. representative complain about their own personal health-care plan. Their plans are single payer and that payer is the U.S. government.

However, when that excellent plan is proposed for the whole country, it somehow becomes “socialism.” That’s not socialism. That’s hypocrisy!
