Vail Daily letter: Don’t blame GOP for fiscal cliff

Karl Lundgren

I hope everyone, especially the liberals who voted for Obama, have been paying attention to the looming “fiscal cliff.”

As it stands now, everyone will be getting hit with higher taxes Jan. 1. Obama and the Democrats did a great job waging class warfare during the election and tricking the naive voters that “the rich” need to pay more taxes. The reality is that everyone is going to be considered rich after Jan. 1.

The current tax rates are 10, 15, 28, 33 and 35 percent. The more you make, the higher your rate (despite what the liberals want you to believe.) After Jan. 1, the new rates will be: 15, 25, 28, 36 and 39.6 percent. Yep, you read that right, everyone is getting a tax increase!

Sadly, the facts are that Republicans are like the nerd who sits in the back of the class that everyone just loved to make fun of. The GOP warned America what the Democrats had in store for them and were demonized, ridiculed and spit on for even bringing facts to the discussion.

Make sure you look at your paycheck after the new year, and be sure to send Obama and the liberals a thank-you note for your reduced take-home pay.

Then brace yourself, married couples are going to get hit even harder, and the liberals haven’t even begun to stick their hands in your pockets to pay for Obamacare yet.
