Vail Daily letter: Don’t ruin Eagle

I am hoping to move to Eagle in the next year to be near family and to enjoy the town I have come to like a lot. Thanks to the Vail Daily’s online edition, I am able to keep up with what is happening in the valley. I noticed that there has been some letters and ads related to Eagle River Station focus groups meetings.

One of the reasons I want to move to Eagle is because it is so different than where I live now, which could be renamed as sprawl. I cannot tell you how often I drive by empty big boxes and various strip mall storefronts on my way to and from work. Some of them are not even 10 years old and I am sure they were promised the jobs and sales tax revenue that Eagle is being promised. If Red Development does present a new project in Eagle, I am assuming it will be completely revamped since the last one was defeated by most of the voters. And since I follow what happens in the area, I assume too that Eagle can learn from Avon, which was given the same big box promises. Or better yet, learn for yourself and take a drive and pay attention to the vacant store fronts including big box shopping areas.
