Vail Daily letter: Don’t want to read that

It is depressing and irritating to open up our local paper and read derogatory comments about what Michelle Obama ate for dinner and the fact that she treated her girls to a ski vacation. I can’t imagine that there is anyone who hasn’t been on vacation and had a great, possibly higher-calorie-than-normal, yummy meal at a restaurant. It seems ridiculous to think that someone would spend any time thinking or worrying about this.

Every president’s wife has had a platform that she was passionate about, and child obesity in our country is current and so important. Short ribs do not cause obesity. Our obesity rate is caused by fast and processed food, soda, excess sugar, kids sitting in front of the TV and video games for too long and not being active. What our Democratic president’s wife ate for dinner at one of the best restaurants in Vail while on vacation is unrelated to this issue. The fact that she brought her kids out to ski is awesome!

I’d love to open our paper and read about important and meaningful issues as well as comments from

educated and kind people in our

community.
