Vail Daily letter: Don’t wash your car!

Tessa Allen, Haley Monica
Vail, CO, Colorado

On behalf of our team, we would like to thank the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District and Eagle County Crime Stoppers for supporting Eagle Valley athletics, and specifically our program.

The Eagle Valley Dance Team’s philosophy is that everything we get in the way of donations, we give back in the way services or products.

Don’t wash your car until Aug. 28! On that day, the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District is hosting a huge event for our team at their location on Third Street in Eagle. Devil Dancers will be selling pancakes, bake sale items and car washes to benefit our program. Also, thanks to Alpine Bank in Eagle, we will also accept Visa/Mastercard on that day! Bring the family for a delicious breakfast, a car wash and yummy baked goods to take home.

The annual “Fill the Boot” fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will be on Sept. 6 (Labor Day). Members from both organizations will be at area intersections to collect cash donations (with boots) from those who would like to contribute to the MDA, which is a non-profit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related diseases by funding worldwide research and providing advocacy, education, health care, and support services to adults and children with neuromuscular diseases.

Also, we are encouraging all EVHS teachers, parents and students to support Eagle County Crime Stoppers. Did you know that you can sometimes earn cash by submitting at tip to Eagle County Crime Stoppers? Please enter one of the following numbers into your cell phone, so that you are always prepared. 970-328-7007 or 1-800-972-TIPS. You may also submit your tip online at http://www.tipsubmit.com, or text a tip from your cell phone by texting STOPCRIME plus your message to CRIMES (274637). If your tip leads to the arrest and indictment of any suspect involved, you could earn up to a $1,000 reward from the Crime Stoppers.

Crime touches everyone, directly or indirectly. If you ever find yourself in the position of submitting a tip, Crime Stoppers guarantees your anonymity. One of our school’s rules is “Know right from wrong, and do what’s right!” Be a good citizen and help keep our community safe!

Our first performances will be on Sept. 10. We will perform at half-time of the varsity football game in Gypsum, and again at the annual barbecue at the Eagle Fire Station. We appreciate how much our community supports our team, and all of the teams at our school. Thank you!
