Vail Daily letter: Event really took off

Many months ago, a small group of us set out to establish a new event in our valley. This was brought to fruition on June 3 with Project Funway, a creative and spirited fashion design event. What started as a party among a few friends grew into a full-flung fashion show with 35 designs created and modeled and upward of 175 attendees. We were thrilled at the excitement over the event, and the enthusiasm of the designers. None of this would have been possible without the incredibly generous outpouring of our community, which donated food, beverages, talent, time, props and prizes. Because the event was such a success, we were able to make a sizable donation to the Education Foundation of Eagle County to help keep quality teachers in our classrooms. Look for the event to grow larger next year, and to feature even more incredible talent from our valley and beyond. Save the date: May 19, 2013!We would like to thank our judges, Tricia Swenson, Heather Hotard and Ti Diaz; our emcees, Matt Scherr and Betty Ann Woodland; our DJ, Fred of Great Time DJs; our videographers, Natale Retzlaff and Jason Stilp of Pick A Winner Productions; our caterer, Vail Catering Concepts; Lulu B and Crazy Mountain Brewery for donation of beverages; Alpine Party Rentals for equipment rental; Pink Monkey Solutions for incredible lighting; TV8 for promotions; W Salon for doing hair and makeup for all of the models; and the following for their donations: Claggett Rey Gallery, Silver Oak Cellars, National Velvet Dry Cleaners, Vail Resorts Echo, Banglz Salon, Digits Nail Salon, Satcom Resources, Continental Divide Cabins, Vin 48, Slifer Designs, Blue Moose, Revolution Power Yoga, Vail International Dance Festival, Vail Valley Foundation, Cafe 163, Larkburger, Street Swell Longboards, Northside Coffee & Kitchen, Dish!, A Secret Garden, Yeti’s Grind, Pedal Power, Eat!
