Vail Daily letter: Family planning options

Thank you for the great article on birth control methods you ran on Dec. 27.

It is important for any person who is sexually active to understand all of their options when it comes to this potentially life-changing decision.

Fortunately, we have local resources that can assist with choosing and obtaining the right contraceptive.

Eagle County Public Health has a family planning clinic that provides birth control, sexually transmitted disease testing for men and women, women’s cancer screens, pregnancy testing, education and counseling.

Birth control options include the pill, NuvaRing, Depo-Provera, IUD, natural family planning and abstinence counseling. The Plan B morning-after pill is also available through the clinic.

A grant received from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment makes it possible for men 21 years and older to get a vasectomy at low or no-cost.

Fees for services are based on a sliding scale and Medicaid is accepted. The family planning clinic provides services to men, women and teens, and all services are confidential.

For more information or to make an appointment, call 970-328-8840.
