Food Rescue Express would like to thank everyone who has helped make our first year of Food for Kids Backpack Program a huge success – your donations from the food drives and your generous contributions. In the first year of the program, we fed 424 elementary school children, which is equivalent to 2,791 meals, which includes our first summer doing summer school.

We will be doing Food for Kids Backpack Program year-round, and we have already started and are expanding. We know there is a huge need for this program, and many people are happy that such a program exists. We know that the kids are getting healthy food for the weekends.

What the program does is to try and provide a full weekend of meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a snack) for local elementary students at Eagle County Schools. These kids are on the federal lunch program (free or reduced lunch). The kids are chosen either by their school counselor or principal to qualify for the backpacks.

If you would like to sponsor a child for one month, the cost is $22.50, or if you would like to sponsor a child for one school year, the cost is $177.

Food Rescue Express is a nonprofit organization and your donation is tax-deductible. Our mailing address is: Food Rescue Express, P.O. Box 2874, Edwards, CO 81632. If you have any questions or would like more information on the program, you can e-mail: foodrescueexpress

Thank you for your support so that we can continue Food for Kids Backpack Program.
