Vail Daily letter: Great day at McCoy!

The McCoy Old Timers Father’s Day Picnic was held June 20 at the Old McCoy School Gym. About 80 folks attended the festivities.

Riney Hablutzel, of Fruita, was crowned our king by Iva Laman, a past queen. Viola Shomers Ray, of Cedaredge, was crowned queen by another past queen, Rose Horn. Jake Stull, of McCoy, was given the Historian Award for all of his stories of the past. The Oldest Person Award was given to Dorothy Esmail, of Eagle. The youngest person was Westin Bowles, of Burns.

We want to thank everyone who helped make it a big success along with bringing all of the great-tasting food for us all to eat. Thanks, Old Dog and Cass, for those great hamburgers and brats.

Thanks for all the stories and all of the reminiscing everyone did. They were enjoyed by all. Thanks also go to Missy Lambertus, of Eagle County Ambulance District, for doing all those blood pressures, etc., on everyone. A big round of applause goes to the Kestead and the Weber families for cleaning up.
