Vail Daily letter: Great runway event
Vail, CO, Colorado
This is just a note of appreciation to Eagle County and the airport for the recent “Romp the Runway” event.
I can only imagine how difficult the logistics must have been to make it happen and the planning to get helicopters, airplanes, heavy equipment, inflatable kids course, food and the personnel to staff it. All on a freshly paved FAA approved runway! And to top it off with one of the most unique races in the world was a feat in itself.
My family and kids loved it, as did so many other families and racers I spoke with. You really hit it over the fence and deserve our gratitude for making it such a fun time.
From the sounds of it, this may have been a once in a lifetime opportunity as once the airport goes into full operations, this type of event will be nearly impossible.
Thank you for putting in the work and making it happen, even if only for this one time. You made a lot of locals happy and at the same time showcased our new and improved airport runway. We really appreciate it and look forward to successful re-opening to the airport Sept. 1!

Are we seeing more bears because there are more bears on the valley floor, or because we’re all spending more time at home? It could be a bit of both.
