Vail Daily letter: Hidden Gems bid too secretive

Vail Daily
Vail, CO Colorado

I am outraged at the handling of the Hidden Gems issue. The Eagle County commissioners chose to ignore the opposition, holding private work sessions with the advocates and never allowing for public comment in Eagle County, as promised at the meeting with a packed house – standing room only in opposition.

Now, we are welcome to join in the hearings offered by Jared Polis in Frisco on work days in the middle of the day.

Polis recently hosted “community events” and visited various districts except Eagle County!

Great job! Certainly you won’t have to face any opposition there. The commissioners’ handling of this issue was anything but transparent, and like the existing government, it’s OK with you to do your business behind closed door in secret. Cowardly!

It is not acceptable for a group from outside of Colorado to infiltrate Eagle County for their land grab and proposal of wilderness designation. Even worse, to be supported in secret by the Eagle County commissioners.

Now, Jared Polis will grab the ball and ram it through Congress.

The only good news for anyone who cares about this issue is the upcoming elections and the removal of the misguided group now governing our county, state and federal governments. The lack of common sense and balance that exists now causes outrage, and certainly we will not forget! We will remember in November and long after!
