Vail Daily letter: Home tour supports school

Emily Tamberino
Vail, CO, Colorado

Thanks to Vail Mountain School’s many generous supporters, Sunday’s 38th annual Home Tour was a success. The school was able to raise significant funds for financial aid, and we are continuing to reach for our goal through raffle-ticket sales.

Sunday was a beautiful day. Not only was the weather perfect and the leaves turning, but the smiles on everyone’s faces and the spirit of community reinforced to all that something special was taking place. We are immensely grateful to the homeowners, who will go unnamed but are deeply appreciated.

Thank you to our sponsors, whose donations made the day possible: Golden Key Sponsors Gorsuch Ltd. and Solaris Residences; Silver Key Sponsor; Luncheon Sponsor Larkspur; Media Sponsors KZYR/The Zephyr, Vail Valley Magazine, Luxe Magazine, TIGA Advertising, Vail PM/Prosper Studios, Vail/Beaver Creek Magazine, Plum TV and Mountain Living; Home Sponsors Arrigoni Woods, A.E. Betteridge and Alpine Bank; and Table Sponsors Ruggs Benedict/Carpet One, Alliance Restoration Inc., Key Bank, Stephens Nursery, Peak Properties, TV8/Good Morning Vail, Copy Copy and Community Banks of Colorado.

Thank you to our many advertisers. Thank you to the town of Vail and Beaver Creek Resort Co. for providing the event’s transportation. Thank you to Kent Pettit, of Pettit Photography, for his 10th year of photography.

Thank you to the donors of our raffle prizes: Gorsuch Ltd.; East West Partners; A.E. Betteridge; Vail Resorts Inc.; Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival; Vail Jazz Festival; Vilar Performing Arts Center; Nancy Cole Photography; Timberline Tours and Big Bear Bistro.

Thank you to our guests, many of whom return year after year, not only to see which homes will be featured next but to support the school and financial aid.

Finally, thank you to the over 400 volunteers: parents, students, teachers, and friends who ensured the success of the Home Tour. Thank you to Mike and Carolyn Connolly for chairing this year’s event, to the 2009 Home Tour Committee and to those who volunteered at the homes, drove vans, sold raffle tickets, served lunch, cooked for the Gourmet Pantry and even glued posters, cut out directional arrows and hung balloons. We are so grateful!

This school year, 26 percent of the student body will receive over $1 million in need-based financial aid. If you would like to support the financial aid program, please send your contribution to Vail Mountain School, 3000 Booth Falls Road, Vail, CO 81657, or make a gift online at

Another very big thank you!
