We are writing this letter to show our support for Sheriff Joe Hoy and to urge others to sup-port him as our sheriff for the next four years.

We have known Joe for many years, from his days as a deputy and DARE officer to his current tenure as Eagle County’s sheriff. We are impressed with his leadership.

He demonstrates the capacity to lead by combining the ability to listen while upholding high standards of ethics and profes-sionalism. While raising our three sons, we had a few con-tacts (!) with officers from his department, and they always displayed an impressive degree of respect and professionalism. This is a reflection of Joe’s lead-ership and a direct result of the high expectations he holds for those in his department.

Joe Hoy has his finger on the pulse of Eagle County. Having lived here for 21 years, he knows the energy and the peo-ple of our valley and strives to respond to our unique needs through his own and his department’s involvement in community organizations. He understands and cares for our schools, children and youth, and he walked the talk by serv-ing many years on the board of the Youth Foundation.

Sheriff Hoy is respected in the law enforcement community and has been elected as an offi-cer of the Colorado State Sher-i-ff’s Association. Closer to home, his engagement and approachability have earned him, and by extension his department, the admiration and respect of a wide variety of Eagle County’s residents. As an ideologically mixed couple, we can attest to that fact. To borrow a line from an old movie, ” They all adore him. They think he’s a righteous dude.”

In essence, Joe Hoy knows our community because he is an integral part of it. He demon-s-trates a rare combination of leadership, professionalism and approachability. It’s been a win-ning formula for the past eight years. Why would we want to change that?

Joe Hoy has served our com-munity well, and we need to ensure that he can continue that service. Please join us in sup-porting Joe Hoy as our sheriff for the next four years.
