Vail Daily letter: Hoy for sheriff
July 17, 2010
Though I am no longer employed by the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Hoy has my endorsement to remain as sheriff.
I worked at the Sheriff’s Office for 10 years, and in that time, I saw many changes. Some I agreed with and some I did not. Sheriff Hoy always took the time to talk to me about what was going on. The changes Sheriff Hoy makes, he does so to better the Sheriff’s Office and the lives of the residents of Eagle County.
Sheriff Hoy has been active in the community. The Sheriff’s Office participated in most of the community events in Eagle County by having floats in the parades or educational booths. Sheriff Hoy always made sure deputies were accessible to the public.
Sheriff Hoy took the school resource officer position from two part-time positions to three full-time positions. By him doing so, deputies were better able to get to know the kids of Eagle County and show that police officers are not always out to get you. Deputies were better able to communicate with the schools to find out their individual needs.
I had the opportunity to work with Charles Wolf on several projects and have nothing bad to say about him. But when you go to the polls this year, vote Hoy to remain as your sheriff.
