Vail Daily letter: Intense week for veterans

Debbie Robbins and Pat Hammon
Vail, CO, Colorado

We would like to thank everyone who made the recent Veterans Day programs such a success. It was a very busy, emotionally intense week for the valley’s veterans.

However, the incredible school programs followed by the powerful community ceremony at Freedom Park all help to keep the meaning of our efforts in our hearts and memories.

The smiling, earnest faces of the eager, innocent children in the local schools and the wonderful support of our generous valley will live with us through out the year.

Sincere thanks to: school administrators, teachers and staff, student escorts, presenters and performers, parent volunteers and PTAs and to our local newspapers for the wonderful coverage. Also, many thanks for the generosity of Subway, Gourmet Cowboy, City Market Avon, Battle Mountain High School Barbershop Quartet and the Battle Mountain foods and Pro-Start classes. Special thanks to the veterans who thoughtfully gave so much of their time to develop and present their personal experiences in the schools and to participate in the community programs.

We are truly blessed to live in this embracing community, and we appreciate your support.
