Vail Daily letter: Just us crazies hanging with Glen Beck
Vail, CO, Colorado
As one who was at the Lincoln Memorial on Aug. 28, it is obvious that Richard Carnes could have written his commentary two months ago and mailed it in.
All he left out was Cheney and Halliburton. Naturally, all of us who were there were “pompous, egotistical, bigoted” and of course he just had to invoke the race issue by calling us “whitey.” My wife and I met a number of Coloradans there, and apparently we are all part of the crazies.
I would like to sign up for a job at the Vail Daily where I can just write a column months before something happens, mail it in and get a paycheck. Call me! I’m available.
The real truth is that the event was attended by a large number of people of all colors, in excess of 500,000, who are concerned with the direction that the country has taken and are afraid that this direction is unsustainable. It was really about our founding principles and putting these into our lives.
If Mr. Carnes were a real journalist, he might watch Glenn Beck and the Restoring Honor event before forming an opinion. That would be real journalism. But it is much easier to just write something without doing any real work. So much spanking to do and so little time.
As he said, “Maybe I am just not smart enough to get these guys.” Just quoting.
