Vail Daily letter: Kerst for Eagle Town Board

Kathy Calton
Eagle, CO, Colorado

I have been a resident in the Eagle Valley for about 19 years and a resident in Eagle for the last 12. I have really enjoyed the small-town feel and love having the ability to raise my daughters in this small community. My husband and I own a variety of businesses in this community and understand the needs of Eagle. Many of the reasons that we enjoy Eagle is the fact that people that live here are dedicated to this community and making it successful.

Yes, Eagle has struggled and is trying to find a way to succeed and this will take many people to help us through this process. These people need to be dedicated to our lifestyle and understand what it takes for Eagle to be successful.

One of the people that I find will help us move forward is Mikel “Pappy” Kerst. Pappy has been in the area for over 20 years and has raised his children here; he and his wife have been very involved in the community and truly know how to make it succeed. Pappy is a man of great integrity and intelligence. He may not be the most vocal person on the board, but he is very aware of what Eagle needs and how to move it forward.

He is a behind-the-scenes person and just because he does not argue every point that is brought up to the Town Board does not mean that he is unknowledgeable. He is not the type of person who would speak badly of his opponents despite the fact that they want to slander him on various Web sites. Slanderous comments should not be part of any political campaign in the small town of Eagle! I would urge you to vote for Mikel “Pappy” Kerst for the Town Council of Eagle on April 6!
