Vail Daily letter: Nice job
Vail, CO, Colorado
Recently, I had the privilege of serving with a team of community leaders to review the credentials of four developer-operators of senior living facilities from around the country.
They were all highly qualified and very much engaged in the process of helping us realize the long-held dream of having a senior care center in our midst.
As interesting as the presentations and discussions were, what struck me was the very open and engaging process our county government leaders had designed and executed.
They invited about 30 community leaders from various sectors, organized us into teams and suggested questions that would elicit the full capability and interest of the applicants.
It was fascinating for me and, I think, very healthy for all parties.

Not only could we see their people, but they could see what enthusiasm existed in our community for this project. And in the end, our enthusiasm will be as important as their competence.
I just wanted others to know what a great process the county commissioners have started. Keith Montag, Yuri Kostick and others on the county staff did a great job.
This was our government in a very appropriate leadership role.
