Vail Daily letter: Real lifesavers
Vail, CO, Colorado
I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the first responders of the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, the Western Eagle County Ambulance District and the doctors, nurses and medical assistants who helped me out late Friday evening when I unexpectedly stepped out on my parents’ front lawn for some air and collapsed.
You all have my utmost respect for the job you do so well day after day, oftentimes getting little or no credit.
FYI, the ambulance crew delivered me to the Vail Valley Medical Center, where they performed several tests and decided that I had experienced a mini-stroke.
What came to light after being treated was that if anyone should experience weakness in the legs, shortness of breath, an inability to make your body respond to your brain’s commands and an inability to speak clearly, or at all, the best thing that you can do is try to keep moving, causing the blood flow to increase and possibly push the clot through the system.
Thank you all so much.
