Vail Daily letter: Support more flights
Vail, CO, Colorado
I am writing in support of the Air Alliance efforts to build increased use and customer traffic in and out of Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum.
I am a property owner and president of the Board of Directors at the Antlers at Vail and travel back and forth from my home in Virginia frequently for both business meetings and vacation weeks.
I rely on the easy access to Vail from the airport, flying from Washington through Denver to Eagle County Regional Airport.
This is an excellent service to homeowners and tourists, and is an integral element of a “destination resort” program. I am part of a long-term ski group who has also selected Vail as one of its two U.S. destinations for ski weeks based on its big mountains, air travel facilities and medical facilities.
Many tourists from all over the world select the Vail-Beaver Creek area for their winter and summer visits, based on access from Eagle County Regional Airport.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
Building tourist visits to the Vail-Beaver Creek (and other) ski areas, which builds the economy and accrues greater tax dollars through the tourist business, is dependent on access to more frequent and improved air travel facilities. You have improved the building facilities greatly over the past 10 years. Building a program that brings larger planes from hub cities in more frequently is vital.
Improving on time arrival-departure stats will also build support.
I applaud your efforts to build support for improved air travel at Eagle Airport.
