Vail Daily letter: Thank you, Dick!

Brad Austin
Vail, CO, Colorado

Dick Gustafson and his wife, Wendy, are leaving Eagle County for greener pastures.

Dick has served as one of the pioneer volunteer DJs for Radio Free Minturn over the past six-plus years. Please tune in to KLNX-LP FM107.9 for his last “Big Band Show” Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon and give him a good send-off after over 300 radio shows and nearly 10,000 songs played from the 1930s to the 1950s.

He has graciously and generously shared his love of music with locals and others through internet live streaming from the big-band era, musicals, as well as a wealth of patriotic music.

I will fondly remember Red Skelton’s rendition of the “Pledge of Allegiance” as a shared favorite. It has been a pleasure and honor to have served as a fellow DJ with him over the years.

Please join me in wishing Dick and Wendy happy trails in their future life journeys.

Participate in The Longevity Project

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
