Vail Daily letter: Thanks for bus service
Vail, CO, Colorado
Many thanks to Mike Rose, Rich Matsunaka, the town of Vail and the town’s Transportation Department for providing bus service for Lions Ridge Loop during the last two weeks that the mountain is open.
For time immemorial, we have had no service during the last and first few weeks of the ski season. This was really quite an inconvenience for our neighborhood, especially since the town still charged for parking (at the same time saving money by cutting our bus service).
At just the Glacier Court (formerly “Vail Point” ) stop, we have at least five guest services volunteers, three tissue folks at Two Elk, two scanners, one street walker, eight folks who work at various shops and restaurants in town, and (of course) a pretty good-sized bunch of skiers and shoppers. So the bus is very important to us the entire time the mountain is still operating.
But this year the town responded very quickly to requests for continuance — very impressive!
Hopefully we can get the same king of bus service in the winter, too.
Many, many, many thanks.
