Vail Daily letter: Thanks for help
Vail, CO, Colorado
Food Rescue Express would like to thank Walmart, TV8 and all the volunteers and especially all of the people who donated food to the Food for Kids Backpack Program in May. It was a huge success, and we received enough donations for the beginning of summer school.
The Food for Kids Backpack Program is to help kids in elementary school in the Eagle County School District who are in the federal lunch program and might not receive enough food over the weekend. The kids are chosen either by the school counselor, principal or teacher.
The food is nonperishable, and they receive enough food for three meals Saturday and three meals Sunday. This enables a child to go back to school on Monday happy and healthy.
Since this program was started last May, we have fed 374 kids, which is equivalent to 2,447 meals. We will be doing the Food for Kids Backpack Program year-round.
If you would like to help, you can support a child for one month at the cost of $22.50 or for one year for $177. We will be doing another food drive in the fall and look forward to you helping us.
If you have questions, you can e-mail us at email@example.com.
Or if you would like to write us, our address is: Food Rescue Express, Box 2874, Edwards, CO 81632.
Thank you all very much for enabling us to continue the Food for Kids Backpack Program.
Edwards, Food Rescue Express board of directors
