Vail Daily letter: The walk at Vail Mountain is too long
Vail, CO, Colorado
How thoroughly I enjoyed Otto Wiest’s letter (Jan. 28). My husband and I also do not ski at Vail. We refuse to pay such a high fee to park our car in order to have the “privilege” of walking three blocks straight uphill on Bridge Street in order to grab a chairlift, or the other choice of parking at Lionshead for the same parking fee to walk several blocks to the gondola.
We are both in our 70s and continue to love the sport of skiing, not walking with heavy boots and carrying skis and poles.
Further, it was obvious that Wiest is not aware that Rob Katz lives two hours away from Vail and very seldom shows his face at any of the Vail resorts.
Has he ever walked the paths that Wiest was referring to? He depends on the hired help to report back to him. I guess this is what is meant that if you are a true leader, you learn to delegate.
